Madden Video Game Session Results in Brotherly Brawl
Madden may seem like a good way to pass the time until someone gets put in a headlock and the door is ripped off its hinges.
The Journal Times (h/t NBC Sports) reports two brothers sat down for a nice game of Madden but ended in an all-out brawl.
Michael Mayweather, 21, and Abrey Mayweather, 19, were playing Madden NFL on Monday but ended up being arrested and charged with domestic abuse when numerous 911 calls were made.
It seems Abrey got the better of Michael in the video game and started trash talking his older brother. At some point, Michael reached the boiling point and just lost it.
"The dispute then became physical when Abrey got up to allegedly fight with his brother outside, at which point Michael tried locking his brother out of the apartment. The two then reportedly jostled with one another, eventually ripping the door of its hinges and forcing the developing brawl into the hallway.
According to the complaint, one witness told police the brothers as “really rolling,” and explained that Michael had his little brother secured in a headlock.
"
According to Abrey, Michael had punched him in the face and attempted to choke him as well. All of this lead to a handful of emergency calls made by concerned neighbors.
If that weren't enough, police state they saw broken wooden furniture and a door that was ripped from its hinges.
Here are the lines that brings all of this together, from The Journal Times report.
"Before the fight, Michael was reportedly spending at least four nights a week at Abrey’s apartment because it is much more convenient for him because it is closer to his probation officer and anger management class.
"
Oh, okay. This makes a great deal more sense and explains why a stupid video game resulted in two brothers nearly ripping each other to pieces.
Anyone who is fortunate to have a brother knows that we have all been in situations where we wanted to go at it like the fighting scene in Step Brothers.
But we don't.
There have been no shortage of moments where a heated dispute broke out between the Zaldivar boys over Bases Loaded or R.B.I. Baseball.
We never quite made it to the breaking of furniture though.
Something tells me these brothers need to double down on those anger management classes.
