Nascar's Top Wreckers In 2008
As I was looking through the crash stats for the 2008 cup season, there were some very surprising findings.
The big crashers were not all the usual suspects, I actually don't remember seeing some of this drivers wrecking last year.
Sam Hornish Jr. was el numero uno, the #1 crasher, the champion wrecker in 2008 had 20 crashes, in a close second with 18 dings which almost matched his 2005 number of 19 wrecks Michael Waltrip.
Matt Kenseth 15 times, this is one was the biggest surprise to me, I don't remember him wrecking much, I watched just about every race last year, maybe he wrecked during my cat naps.
Here is a double surprise, Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin both had 12 crashes in 2008 that's up about 80% from 2007, wonder what went on there.
Some notables with 10 to 12 wrecks last year:
Tony Stewart
Bobby Labonte
Juan Pablo Montoya
Jamie McMurray
Elliott Sadler
Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. had 9 each.
Now let see who does not wreck, guess what ! most of them are the winners in the cup series, huu, are you surprised ?
The champion of fewest wrecks in 2008 was Greg Biffle, he was only a 3 time crasher, a great improvement from his 11 crashes in 2007.
Jeff Gordon only had 4 crashes, no surprise there, but this one was, Regan Smith had the same as the 4 time champion, now that is impressive, kudos to Regan Smith.
Three time champion Jimmie Johnson is very consistant on his wrecking stats:
In 2006 6 wrecks
2007 8 wrecks
2008 7 wrecks
I guess that's why he is 3 time champion.
The best of the rest with 5 dings , David Reutimann,Carl Edwards,Travis Kvapil,Truex Jr. and to my surprise Clint Bowyer, well there should be an asterisk on that stat, he does not wreck but he is good at wrecking other folks, but that's another subject so ill drop it.
A simple conclusion to this stats, the less you wreck the more you win, agree? you see ! my mom was right, I'm very smart, ( wink, wink just kidding)
