2012 Fantasy Football Week 3: Tight Ends (TE) Rankings/ Projections
The Tennessee Titans have coughed up five touchdowns to tight ends over the course of the first two weeks of action. Look to Brandon Pettigrew as a must start option, unless you happen to have Graham, Gronkowski or Vernon Davis on your team.
Pettigrew had a late game touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers, but he will continue to be a favorite of Matthew Stafford, especially if the Detroit Lions can’t find a way to get more production from their No.2 receiver. Titus Young is a bonehead and his immaturity problems continue to be an issue on the field.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It’s unfortunate that Ryan Broyles isn’t healthy enough to contend for a starting job, because he might have a chance to pass Young on the depth chart. Expect at least 75 yards and a score from Pettigrew this week as the Lions need to get the passing game back on track in Tennessee.
What Did We Learn From Week 2?
- Talk of Fred Davis being an unfavored target in the Washington Redskins' offense this summer is true after all. Running shades of his old college offense, Robert Griffin won’t target his tight end often, and owners can safely drop Davis at this time.
- Martellus Bennett looks like he will continue to make plays in the New York Giants offense and is at least an option for bye weeks at this time. Through two weeks, Bennett has a touchdown catch in each game, and we know Eli Manning likes to keep his tight end evolved.
- Brent Celek has been on fire in his past 13 games and we should look to him as a TE1 option. Especially with Jeremy Maclin banged up, Celek has a chance to produce as a top five fantasy tight end through the first half of this season.
Sean’s Week 3 Watch List
- Antonio Gates was a surprising scratch last week and if you're like me, his absence was felt in your lineup. What hurt even more was Donte Rosario scoring three touchdowns as the San Diego Chargers beat up the Titans. I have to believe the Chargers were looking towards a big matchup with the Atlanta Falcons this week and held both Gates and Mathews out against Tennessee.
Hopefully Gates will return to a full practice this week and if he does we should feel good about him playing in a big game in San Diego.
