Who's the Real Superman of Sports?
Throughout sports many people are claiming to be the “Superman” of their respective sport. You have Tim Tebow of the Florida Gators, Shaquille O'Neal, and the most famous is Dwight Howard; who dressed up as Superman in the slam dunk competition.
So the question is, who is the real Superman of sports?
No one can really dominate football, so I don’t think Tebow gets a vote. although Dwight Howard had a great act, and is one of the best centers in the league, he’s still not the most dominant player of the sport. You could argue for Kobe, but I don’t think he totally fits the description.
If there is anyone, in all of sports, that can be classified as Superman I think it's LeBron James.
LeBron has been amazing, and he’s still young. It was like he was born on another planet the way he does the things he does. When he slams the ball it’s like he’s flying; almost as if he were leaping buildings in a single bound.
He’s beaten Washington, whose old team name was the Bullets; I guarantee he's faster than anyone on the team, thus, technically making him faster than a speeding bullet.
LeBron came to the Cavaliers when they weren’t really that great of a franchise. He has saved the team from a potential fate that the Seattle Sonics had last year.
Not only did he save the team, but he gave the people of Cleveland something to hope for. The Indians continue to underachieve and disappoint. The Browns have been at the bottom of the AFC North for a while.
LeBron James might as well be named "Cleveland’s Sports Savior". Cleveland is LeBron’s Metropolis.
I’m sure a lot of people would argue for Kobe, but the Lakers have a history of great players are one of sports greatest franchises. Cleveland didn't have much to cheer for until LeBron showed up.
With all LeBron’s numbers, and his big wins, I expect this Superman to win the MVP at the end of the season. This time "Superman" won't be defeating Lex Luther, rather he will be defeating another superhero. Dwayne "Flash" Wade of Miami is LeBron's primary threat.
For now Dwight Howard remains the Superman of basketball, but in truth I think LeBron James is closer to the Man of Steel then he is.
