Pierre Garcon and More Injured Fantasy Stars to Bench in Week 2

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Pierre Garcon is one of many injured NFL stars who fantasy football owners must bench in their leagues in Week 2.

Taking a chance on an injured player just isn't worth the risk, especially if your team did not perform well in Week 1. You cannot afford to have another bad week.

Let's look at three injured stars who don't deserve starting spots on your team's roster.

DeSean Jackson

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson should be on your bench today, even though he will likely play against the Baltimore Ravens, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"

DeSean Jackson out on field running around, catching passes. Again, he is expected to go today.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was awful against the Cleveland Browns defense in Week 1, so there's a good chance he could have another bad game against Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and the rest of the incredible Ravens defense.

Jackson had four receptions for 77 yards against the Browns, but could find it difficult to have a good performance against a Ravens defense that had four sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown and a fumble recovery in a dominating Week 1 win.

Ryan Mathews

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews should be benched on your fantasy team considering the latest update on his injury status for Week 2 from Adam Schefter of ESPN.

"

The Chargers were able to defeat the Oakland Raiders in Week 1, but they only rushed for 32 yards on 20 carries (1.6 yards per carry).

There's no question that they need Mathews back as soon as possible, but he's too much of a risk in Week 2 given his injury status.

Pierre Garcon

Garcon was fantastic for fantasy owners in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints, but his injury status for Week 2 (via Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports) makes him a huge risk for your fantasy team on Sunday.

"

Our guy @jasonlacanfora: The Redskins do not expect Pierre Garcon to play at STL. I like Aldrick Robinson as a sleeper.

— Dave Richard (@daverichard) September 16, 2012"

Garcon had 109 yards and a touchdown last week, but 88 yards of that and the touchdown came from one long pass from rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III. Other than that catch, Garcon wasn't much of a factor.

Do not take a risk and start Garcon today, find a safer option at wide receiver.
