Miami Ohio vs. Boise State: Broncos' Rout of RedHawks Is Solid Tune-Up for BYU
The Boise State Broncos drove their 2012 legitimacy home with a 39-12 throttling of the Miami, Ohio RedHawks. Coming off a narrow 17-13 defeat at Michigan State, this win somewhat solidifies the Broncos as a team that deserves a national ranking.
The Spartans are one of the toughest teams in the nation at home; they haven't dropped a game in East Lansing since 2009. For the Broncos to fall just four points short was a statement.
To follow that up with a rout of the RedHawks is affirmation for the Broncos. It's not that the team needs confidence; the Broncos know what they can do. Some of their critics and the pollsters need to see how they bounce back from their season-opening loss.

The team had just under 600 yards of total offense, and they held the RedHawks to only 49 yards on the ground.
Heading into a big matchup with BYU, the Broncos should be extremely confident. The Cougars take their 2-0 record into Rice-Eccles Stadium to take on the Utah Utes on Saturday night.
Through two games against modest competition (Washington State and Weber State), they have scored 37.5 points per game.
If they emerged unscathed, they'll represent a ranked and undefeated opponent for the Broncos on Thursday.
It isn't a conference game, but the Broncos can't afford another loss to a ranked opponent. This may be the last time they face a team ranked in the Top 25, so they need to capitalize on this opportunity.
Based on their first two performances this year, they should be ready.
