Monday Night Raw Thoughts: Cena, Edge, and Big Show Make Three?
I write at fightgameblog.com and will post my "Monday Night Raw Thoughts" here as well on BR leading up to Wrestlemania 25. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Check out our thoughts, opinions, and news on boxing, wrestling, and MMA.
Last nightโs Raw was very interesting, but Iโd be lying if I said I enjoyed the booking and where itโs leading us to come April at Wrestlemania 25. The opening segment with Chris Jericho using the old Piperโs Pit set was good, which has been the norm for Jericho of late.
However, it wasnโt as good as the past segments with Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and Ricky Steamboat because Jimmy Snuka canโt cut a promo. He just had to stare at Jericho and pretend to be angry and then take a terrible fall near the end.

It was still good because Jericho is fantastic, but it wasnโt as good as the โlegendโ segments have been.
Iโm really at a loss with the Triple H and Randy Orton angle. I know that this is wrestling, but if Triple H is as angry as he says he is over Orton kicking his father-in-law, his brother-in-law, and knocking out his wife and mother of his children with the RKO, he sure has a weird way of showing it.
Heโs spit and done a great Dizzy Gillespie impersonation with his cheeks. Heโs chased Legacy around the building, showing off some terrible athleticism. And this week, he made the heel challenge him for his title.
I really worry that when this angle is all said and done, Orton is going to be in worse shape after Wrestlemania than he was before it. My friend and co-writer Big D, thinks a double turn is in the works, and that could very well be the case, but I didnโt see it last night.
Not with the 100 people in the ring protecting Orton and the rule that Triple H canโt touch him until the match. If Orton was going face, Iโm not sure they wouldโve done that.
The โMoney In The Bankโ match now has Mark Henry and Kane in it, which means they better put some high flyers into that match soon. But they will, so Iโm not all that worried about it.
Henry and Kane can be in there to catch all the guys coming off the ladder and they can do a humorous spot where Mark Henry canโt go up the ladder very well. Iโm sure weโll get more guys in it soon. Evan Bourne anyone?
I still hope John Morrison makes it in the match and actually wins it because I think he has the best shot of becoming a main eventer out of the group they currently have that sits in the mid-card.
I hated what they did with the Edge and John Cena angle. Cena was going to catch Edge right? Edge wouldnโt be able to run away from him. Last week on Smackdown, he lost clean to the Big Show.
This week, we got Edge and Cena for free. And it looks like we may now get a three-way for Edgeโs belt at Mania. While Edge vs. Cena has been done many times before, youโre going to get a really good match.
Add Big Show to the picture and thereโs not that guarantee anymore. I think theyโve actually made that program less interesting, which is not what you want to do when it comes to building matches for Wrestlemania.
Thankfully, Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker is now a done deal. Out of all the matches for Wrestlemania, thatโs the one that interests me most. Even though they feuded over 10 years ago, itโs the one match on the card so far that feels special.
And thatโs what Wrestlemania is all about.
