Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Who Are the Hottest Adds for Week 2?
Oh, the waiver wire.
A place where stellar fantasy football owners are separated from the mediocrity. A place where dedication shines through.
The truly dedicated owners don't wait until Wednesday to look to acquire Randall Cobb.
Let's take a look at the hottest waiver wire additions of Week 2.
Dexter McCluster
1 of 4McCluster was on the field for a whopping 57 snaps and was targeted 10 times in the Chiefs' loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1,
He didn't receive a carry, but he caught six passes for 82 yards.
With Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis entrenched as the top two runners in Kansas City's backfield, McCluster is unlikely to see more than a small number of carries. However, he's this team's Randall Cobb, and can catch passes out of the backfield and from the slot.
In a PPR league, McCluster has immense upside, and is a hot flex waiver-wire addition.
Marcedes Lewis
2 of 4After Blaine Gabbert showed signs of maturity and vastly improved quarterback competence, Lewis is a trendy waiver wire addition heading into Week 2.
The mammoth tight end was targeted five times and caught the ball every time it was thrown his way for 53 yards and a touchdown.
With that being said, we'd like to see more of Gabbert before placing Lewis into the starting lineup every week.
Andrew Hawkins
3 of 4Remember when everyone thought that Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones would be the go-to complements to A.J. Green?
Those two deserve more than just one game to make their mark for the Cincinnati Bengals, but Andrew Hawkins was the man on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens. He caught eight passes for 82 yards.
He has the initial burst and lateral quickness to play as the team's go-to bubble screen wideout, and is a guy who will be used frequently to pick up major yards after the catch.
If you're in a PPR league, grab Hawkins if he's not gone already.
Alex Smith
4 of 4Get yours, Alex Smith.
Remember when you were a disappointing No. 1 overall pick who had a tenuous grasp on the 49ers' starting quarterback job?
Well, now that Jim Harbaugh's calling the shots, you seem to be pretty darn comfortable.
You're fresh off a game in which you out-dueled fellow 2005 draftee Aaron Rodgers in his backyard.
Good for you.
Smith isn't the next elite fantasy quarterback, but he's slowly graduating from the lowly game-managing role that made him a fantasy afterthought in the past.
With a sound offensive line in front of him, a viable stable of running backs and underrated pass-catching targets at his disposal, Smith is certainly worth a waiver wire addition.
