NBA News: Hakeem Olajuwon to Train Carmelo Anthony and New York Knicks

Pete SchauerJun 6, 2018

Big things are in store for the New York Knicks in 2012.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon will be spending the next few days training the Knicks at their practice facility in Greenburgh, N.Y.

"

Olajuwon, who will fly from his home in Texas, said he expects to work out with Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and Marcus Camby.

The NBA great had already been working with Stoudemire earlier this summer and believes there's no reason why Stoudemire and Anthony cannot find success playing on the same team.

"

They both have to realize that the most important thing is not how great you are individually. You're remembered for how many games you win. So to get to play with another great offensive player should help you. It should make your job easier. You have to work well together. You can't be competitors with one another.

"

While Olajuwon likes the idea of Stoudemire and Anthony playing together, he also feels that it shouldn't just be a two-man show in New York, adding that Tyson Chandler should play a large part in New York's offense.

Chandler had plans to work with the ex-Houston Rockets star but was forced to put them on hold because of the Olympics.

This is a great move for the Knicks, who are in need of help offensively after being ousted in the playoffs last season by the Miami Heat.

Olajuwon has worked with other NBA All-Stars, such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard.
