Denver Broncos' Spending Spree

D PMar 3, 2009

The Denver Broncos have been very busy for the past five day signing 10 players to the 2009 roster, and almost came very close deals for running backs Derrick Ward and J.J. Arrington.

With Denver mostly signing players from the defensive side, they seem to only manage beyond the defensive line for defensive backs and a linebacker. Signing deals with former Dolphin players Andre Goodwin and Renaldo Hill and also end up with probably the best safety in free agency former Eagle Brian Dawkins.

While completing the defensive backfield, they sign former Brown Andra Davis to linebacker which probably means they are about done on defense except for the defensive line.

They still havent manage to grab anyone in the free agency that can perform the 3-4 scheme and with the signing of former Colt Darrell Reid and former 49er Ronald Fields, its still not gonna help.

Ried, is listed at 6'2" and 288 lbs, will probably not be playing as a starter, but a complete monster on special teams which is what Denver needed. Along with Ronald Fields, he's listed as 6'2" 315 lbs, hasn't been proving anyone he can rush the quarterback and sometimes struggles stopping the run.

Hopefully he's not competing for the starting job at defensive tackle.

At this rate, only Igor Oshlanksy is the best fit for a 3-4 defensive scheme. There are other potential players that probably can perform at the 3-4 scheme such as Gabe Watson or Shaun Cody. But they haven't performed at there original teams ever.

In my opinion, and since Denver failed to sign J.J. Arrington and Derrick Ward, they should spend that money on Oshlansky for a possible good deal. Denver should also go after Shaun Rodgers for a few picks, after all he did say he wanted to be traded or released, so signing him should just about put the free agency in the books for Denver.

I would say go after B.J. Raji in the draft but experts are putting him in the top five and with Seattle signing T.J, its a huge possibility for them to draft B.J. Raji.
