2012 IDP Fantasy Football Week 2: Defensive Linemen Rankings

Ah, the life of defensive lineman in the world of IDP fantasy football. Draft a top lineman like Jared Allen, expect big things and get nothing to show for it on opening weekend. Allen wasn’t the only top lineman on draft day with a disappointing Week 1, and we can bet many of them will turn things around this weekend.

Inconsistency is always a problem for this position, but we have a few rookies that stood out last week. One is Chandler Jones of New England and another is Derek Wolfe from the Denver Broncos.

Jones may take some plays off (or at least it appears that way) but he knows when to turn it on. As long as he’s on the field (61 snaps, 89 percent last week) we should expect respectable DL2 production from the standout rookie.

Wolfe is a different player than J.J. Watt, but I love his intensity and enthusiasm for the game. With defenses having to worry about Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil, Wolfe will benefit, especially if the offense can build leads.

Sean’s Week 2 Watch List

I want to see how the Tennessee Titans' Kamerion Wimbley and Derrick Morgan do against the Chargers offensive line. Both ends had respectable numbers last week, but they need to dominate on the edges to help this team pull of a victory on the road.

The Oakland Raiders' Matt Shaughnessy had a decent game against the Chargers, but I want to see him make a bigger impact in the pass rush. Hopefully, we will see this against the Miami Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill.

The Cincinnati Bengals' Geno Atkins picked up right where he left off last year, and looks possibly even better. He will be up against the Cleveland Browns' Brandon Weeden, so if the rookie holds the football too long, we should expect Atkins to pull off a sack.
