FIFA 13: Breaking Down Best of Popular Game's New Features

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

With the FIFA 13 demo already available and the game set for a September 25th release, the buzz surrounding the ample new features in the iconic soccer game is growing and for good reason.

The game has been taken into the next generation. These new features will improve everything from game play to career mode to online play.

Here are the three new improvements from the game that have me the most excited.

 Complete Dribbling

The first new upgrade to be noticed will inevitably be the enhanced dribbling. In years past, the maneuverability of players was not natural, fluid or overly effective.

Those limitations are gone. Players' movements are far more natural and smooth. They can change direction in explosive bursts and weave through traffic, all while being more effective when using their body to keep defenders away from the ball.

Users will now have complete 360 degree control while possessing the ball and overall, highly-enhanced control of their players when they have the ball.

This will make the game far more realistic and dynamic.

 First-Touch Control

One of the more frustrating aspects of the FIFA titles has been the struggles that could occur while players were trying to transition from handling a pass to doing something with the ball.

They were slow to get up to speed, and one-touch passes were nowhere near natural.

This benefits both the offense and the defense. While a well-placed pass will leave the offensive player able to get up to speed more quickly, one-touch passes are going to be far more difficult but entirely more realistic.

Factors like the position and trajectory of the pass, along with defensive pressure, will all change a player's ability to precisely deliver a one-touch look.

New Skills

Some of the things to look forward to with any new FIFA release are the new skill moves available.

I'm going to be honest here: I have always just discovered new moves by chance, as my game is not refined enough to pull off these maneuvers, due to the speed of the game, with anything other than the button-mashing approach, but even that is still fun, and for more advanced players, the new additions will be a blast.

Check out this video, which also highlights the new Complete Dribbling system.

There are some sick moves there. I'm determined to actually learn the combinations to pull some of these off.

Overall, FIFA 13 is far more natural, realistic and ultimately addictive.
