Manny Pacquiao: Pac-Man Must Fight Juan Manuel Marquez This December

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Manny Pacquiao's (54-4-2, 38 KOs) appeal certainly took a major hit when he lost a split decision to undefeated WBO welterweight challenger Timothy Bradley Jr. (29-0, 12 KOs) last June in Las Vegas.

That is why Pac-Man must take on rival Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KOs) for a fourth time December 8 at the MGM Grand in Vegas.

The controversial way in which Pacquiao's most recent fight against Bradley ended has some desiring a rematch, but others turned off to the idea of Manny fighting Bradley for the second time in six months.

There is no denying that Pacquiao versus Marquez would generate more interest than the Filipino versus Bradley. After all, few if any actually thought Bradley did enough to win that fight.

The result had many fans threatening to shun the sport and give up on boxing all together.

If there was ever a legitimate controversial rivalry involving Manny Pacquiao, it is the superstar's trilogy with Marquez.

The two boxers have squared off three times since May 2004, with Manny winning the last two by a nose, after the two fighters drew the first time around.

Pacquiao took last November's bout via majority decision, and won in March 2008 via split decision.

It is almost impossible to separate Pacquiao and Marquez, and that's why a fourth meeting this December is so vital to boxing and Pac-Man's career as well.

He could eliminate any doubt that he is the better fighter and cement his latest loss to Bradley as nothing more than a bogus decision by the judges.

December 8 in Vegas is the perfect time and place for Pacquiao to renew his epic rivalry with Marquez.

Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV is a better matchup than Pacquiao vs. Bradley II, hands down. There's more history and more genuine controversy.
