Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Mr.Consistent From Guyana!

This guy, probably, has the most unconventional stance and technique in cricketing history. He is one of the unsung heroes of West Indies cricket and WAS, an underrated player until an operation on his foot late in 2000.

He has been the man to watch out for whenever West Indies play ever since (barring Lara of course). I'm talking very much about Mr.Cool, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 2008 ICC Player of the Year.

Having made a good 62 on debut in 1994 at his hometown, this bloke could not get a hundred for the next three years! Chanderpaul has not been in the limelight much due to another great south paw, Brian Lara.

He did not flourish as much as he would have liked in the early part of his career but post that operation he has amassed tons of runs. He has more than 8,000 test runs at an average of almost 50! His ODI records are not far behind. He has close to 8,000 runs at an average of 41!

He averaged more than 100 for the previous two years! He made three hundreds and three fifties in seven innings in 2007! For the record, his 18 of the 20 test hundreds have been post 2001!

For a man who is known to be a sluggish batsmen, he has one of the fastest hundreds in test history. His whirlwind 100 came off just 72 balls against the mighty Aussies in 2001-02. Another important hundred was in the same series when they chased the record 418 in Antigua.

He has hundreds from positions three to seven! His stint at captaincy was only for a year but it didn't stop him from making runs as he made an unbeaten double hundred in his first innings as captain in front of his home fans.

He is getting older but the hunger for runs remains the same as ever. This year might not have been the best so far but DO NOT underestimate this guy! He might look out of touch (like always) but he will make those runs at will! Cheers.
