World Football Gossip Roundup: Wesley Sneijder, Maicon, Raheem Sterling

So it turns out Wesley Sneijder hearts Inter Milan after all.

Last summer, the Dutch superstar was linked extensively with a move to Manchester United. Of course, the deal never happened, but the rumors lingered on.

Maybe now they'll go away—Sneijder has pledged his undying love to Inter Milan, once and for all, until the end of time, or something like that.

Wesley Sneijder Wants to Stay at Inter Milan?

Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder wants to stay with Inter Milan for at least three more years (Gazzetta dello Sport via ESPN FC).

Sneijder, 28, was heavily linked with Manchester United in 2011 (via The Guardian) but no deal was ever reached. His current contract with Inter expires in 2015.

"I want to stay at Inter," Sneijder told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have never, never thought about leaving Inter. I like the team, the city, the club, and I also like the coach."

Sneijder also hinted he might stay with Inter following the end of his current contract.

Jermaine Jenas to Leeds United?

Tottenham Hotspur want to loan Jermaine Jenas to a Championship team ahead of a clear-out in January (via Metro).

Jenas, 29, was linked to Sunderland at the end of the summer transfer window. Leeds United are thought to be interested in a loan move.

Tom Huddlestone, Michael Dawson and Heurelho Gomes are also among the players likely to move.

Adrian Lopez Puts off New Atletico Madrid Deal?

Spain international forward Adrian Lopez is delaying the signing of a new contract with Atletico Madrid (via Metro).

Lopez, 24, joined Atletico from Deportivo La Coruña in 2011. His contract runs for three more years. He scored 19 goals in all competitions last season.

Arsenal and Tottenham are thought to be interested in signing him. His release clause reportedly stands at £14.5 million.

Maicon Snubbed Chelsea?

Brazilian full-back Maicon signed with Manchester City from Inter Milan on transfer deadline day.

According to Maicon's agent, Roberto Calenda, his client turned down Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to reunite with former Inter manager Roberto Mancini at City (via Sky Sports).

All the top clubs who needed someone in that role came looking for Maicon, from Real Madrid via Jose Mourinho, to PSG, Chelsea and others. Jamaica Want Raheem Sterling?

Jamaican officials are trying to convince Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling to switch his international affiliation from England to Jamaica (via Daily Mail).

Sterling, 17, has broken into Liverpool's first team this season, starting two Premier League matches already. He has represented England at the Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 levels.

Sterling was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and emigrated to England as a child.
