ACC Basketball Rankings: North Carolina, Duke Set For Sunday Showdown

The cream is starting to rise in the ACC and it is a familiar picture at the top with North Carolina and Duke. The two will square off for the second time this year next Sunday in Chapel Hill.

The ACC could get anywhere from five to eight teams in the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Tech and Maryland are squarely on the bubble while BC—with their win over FSU—could already be sliding into March Madness.

Team of the Week: Duke Blue Devils

NCAA Bubble Teams: Boston College, Virginia Tech, Maryland

1. North Carolina

The Tar Heels rebound from last week's upset with a thrashing of the hapless Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech.

2. Duke

The Blue Devils are born again! Duke wins two big road games this week helping their push for a top three seed.

3. Florida State

The Seminoles cemented their invite with a win over Clemson Saturday. FSU is being talked about as a dark horse team in the tournament.

4. Wake Forest

Wake is back to top four in the standings which means a bye in the ACC Tournament first round.

5. Clemson

Rough week for the Tigers with two close losses. Doubts are starting to creep from last year's first round NCAA loss.

6. Boston College

Eagles greatly helped their chances with a win over a hot FSU team.

7. Virginia Tech

The Hokies really needed that win over Duke but they have another chance this week to take down a giant when UNC comes to town.

8. Maryland

This team reminds of a Katy Perry song—Your Hot When Your Cold, Your In And Your Out. 

9. Miami

I think the Hurricanes need to win out and then have a very strong ACC Tournament showing to get into the Big Dance.

10. NC State

Another season or two like this and Sidney Lowe may be looking for another job.  I mean Wolfpack fans ran off Herb Sendek who got into the tournament a few times.

11. Virginia

At least freshman Sylven Landesburg is a leading candidate for ACC rookie of the year.
