T.J. Houshmandzadeh To The Vikings?
According to ProFootballTalk.com, T.J. Houshmandzadeh could be a Minnesota Viking by Monday night.
He spent all of Sunday in Minneapolis, and intends to spend the night there to get a feel for the town. Houshmandzadeh was treated like royalty by the Minnesota Vikings front-office and Brad Childress. He received a steak dinner at the finest restaurant in Minnesota. He also received a private jet to Minneapolis.
With the way he's been treated, there is no doubt in my mind that Houshmandzadeh will be with the Vikings for the 2009 season and beyond.
The Seattle Seahawks seem to be out of the running for the 31-year-old former Pro-Bowler. They apparently didn't offer a big enough contract, which led Houshmandzadeh to lose interest.
He is down to two choices, the Bengals or the Vikings. The plan is for him to sleep on the situation, and talk it over with his wife.
I don't want to disrespect the Bengals, but they are nowhere near as good as the Vikings. Perhaps Houshmandzadeh wants to stay with the team he has been with his whole career. I can see why he would do it, but he should sign with a team that gives him the best chance of winning. That is the Minnesota Vikings.
You team him up with the best running back in the game, a stud receiver in Bernard Berrian, a great offensive line, and a solid quarterback. There will be no competition in the NFC North. You Packers and Bears fans are probably chomping at the bit to retaliate to that. Feel free, I can argue with you all day long.
Something tells me that a guy in a pony-tail would look great in purple. I'm not the only one who thinks this though. The Vikings are known for having players with odd hair-cuts on the—Randy Moss' afro and Jared Allen's mullet.
The point is that Houshmandzadeh must sign with the Vikings. There are no cons to the organization. I have already named several pros. Sign that dotted line. Get your money. Perform on Sundays. Lead us to our first ever Super Bowl win. Be loved by Vikings fans for the rest of your life.
The end.
