Elisha Cuthbert Engaged to Dion Phaneuf, Tweets Announcement

Elisha Cuthbert is ready, willing and rather excited to walk down the aisle with boyfriend and Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf. The two are now engaged. 

Yet another lovely lady is taken off the market as Happy Endings star Elisha Cuthbert heads happily, very happily, into matrimony. 

Here is what she tweeted (h/t Big Lead) out on Sunday night, announcing the big news to her fans:

The lucky man is NHL star and Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf. The 27-year-old began his NHL career with Calgary, where he played four-and-a-half seasons before departing for his current team in Toronto. 

While Phaneuf can hold his own on the ice, most people will recognize his future bride a bit more readily. Cuthbert rose to fame in her role as Kim Bauer on the hit show 24. 

She switched things up and dove into comedy with her current gig as Alex Kerkovich on Happy Endings, a show that can best be described as Friends, only with extremely quicker speech patterns. 

Phaneuf and Cuthbert began dating way back in 2008 and have had to deal with a great amount of tumult thanks to a certain former Cuthbert boo.  

As if a new relationship weren't hard enough, NHL star Sean Avery had to make it that much more difficult when he tried to "joke" that Phaneuf was receiving his "sloppy seconds." 

The sour grapes didn't sit well with others, and the bad joke placed Avery in a very negative light. 

All of that is well past these two, who are now onto bigger and better things, like preparing to spend the rest of their lives together.
