Ronaldo Sad, Speculation Rampant
1 of 7Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines across the world over the weekend by revealing he is "sad" at Real Madrid. The Portuguese superstar refused to celebrate his goals in La Liga against Granada.
After the match, he told reporters (via The Guardian): "I am sad and the club knows it, that's why I didn't celebrate the goals. The people in the club know why."
Those words have sparked intense media speculation over Ronaldo's future.
The Sun claims that Ronaldo wants a new contract worth £25 million per year. Currently, he reportedly makes £9.6 million per year.
The Daily Star reports that Manchester City will bid £95 million to bring Ronaldo back to England. The 27-year-old previously played for Manchester United from 2003 to 2009.
The Daily Mail reports that City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Ronaldo. PSG sporting director Leonardo quickly denied his club's interest (ESPN FC).
Zenit Sign Hulk, Witsel
2 of 7Brazil international forward/winger Hulk has signed with Zenit St. Petersburg from Porto in a deal worth £32 million (via BBC Sport).
Hulk, 26, has signed a five-year contract. Zenit are the two-time defending Russian champions. Chelsea were also thought to be interested.
Zenit have also signed Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel for what BBC calls a "similar fee." Witsel, 23, has earned 30 caps for Belgium.
United Tracking Leandro Damiao?
3 of 7Manchester United could move for Brazil forward Leandro Damiao in the January transfer window (per Daily Mail).
Damiao, 23, scored six goals for silver medalists Brazil at the Olympics. Tottenham reportedly had a £20 million bid rejected by his club, Internacional.
Kolo to Turkey?
4 of 7Turkish giants Galatasaray want Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, according to The Sun.
Toure, 31, has one season left on his current contract. City reportedly want £3 million for him or could let him leave on loan.
The Turkish transfer window closes Wednesday night.
Arsenal, United Tracking Leicester Youngster
5 of 7Arsenal and Manchester United have sent scouts to watch 19-year-old Leicester City defender Liam Moore play in the Championship (via Metro).
Leicester reportedly value Moore at £5 million. Metro reports that a January transfer is possible.
Owen Not Returning to Liverpool?
6 of 7Michael Owen will not sign with former club Liverpool and is instead leaning toward signing with Stoke City (per Daily Mail).
Owen, 32, played for Liverpool from 1996 to 2004. He was released by Manchester United over the summer.
According to the Mail, Liverpool's principal owner John Henry has ruled out "expensive, short-term quick fixes." Stoke reportedly will offer Owen £1.5 million per year over two years.
Athletic to Take Legal Action over Martinez?
7 of 7Athletic Bilbao could pursue legal action against Bayern Munich over the transfer of midfielder/defender Javi Martinez (per Goal.com).
Martinez, 24, joined Bayern last month for a Bundesliga-record fee of €40 million (via Goal.com).
Martinez reportedly underwent his Bayern medical without Athletic's permission, and Athletic president Josu Urrutia said the club could take action:
""We are looking into the possibilities of taking legal action against Bayern Munich," Urrutia said. "Javi Martinez had a valid contract with us, which was specifically protected by the rules and regulations of world football's governing body, Fifa."
