NFL Free Agency: Where Will the Rest of the Big Names in Free Agency Land?

Ethan ArnoldSep 2, 2012

On Wednesday the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants will square off in the 2012 NFL season opener and even with the regular season just two days away, there are still plenty of unsigned free agents that could really make a difference in the coming season.

WR, Plaxico Burress

Plaxico Burress returned to football in 2011 after serving a two-year prison sentence and was able to real in eight touchdowns. At the age of 35, Burress isn't the fastest guy in the league but at 6'5", he can provide quarterbacks with a big target in the red zone.

TE, Kellen Winslow

Winslow was released by the Seattle Seahawks this offseason and has yet to find a suitor. Winslow is only 29 years old and has proven to be a very able player in the past. In 2007, he racked up 1,106 receiving yards, a milestone only a handful of tight ends have accomplished in NFL history.

WR, Chad Johnson

Johnson was signed by the Miami Dolphins this past offseason only to be released months later after assaulting his now ex-wife. Prior to his obsession with the limelight, Chad Johnson looked to be a putting together a Hall of Fame-caliber career. Now, his priorities seem to be jumbled, which leads me to believe that if a team chooses to take a chance with him it will be out of desperation late in the season.
