Transfer Tracker: Falcao, Gareth Bale, Joao Moutinho, Theo Walcott, Michael Owen

Michael CummingsJun 2, 2018

In the world football transfer window, sometimes all you need is a swift kick in the pants—and sometimes all you need is a few more minutes.

Both points are illustrated vividly in Sunday's edition of the B/R Transfer Tracker.

On Friday, Chelsea endured a sound beating in the UEFA Super Cup. Did the Blues sulk about it?

Of course not. Instead, they found themselves linked with a move for their greatest tormentor.

In addition to that story, we have the latest on Tottenham's last-second transfer dealings, as well as updates on Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Michael Owen.

Read on for more.

Chelsea Eyeing Falcao?

1 of 5

Fresh off his impressive three-goal performance for Atletico Madrid against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is reportedly being courted by, well, Chelsea, of course.

That's the word from the Daily Mail, which cites South American reports that Chelsea and Atletico have already reached a pre-agreement ahead of the move. The potential deal would cost £48 million.

Falcao, 26, scored 36 goals in all competitions last season as Atletico won the UEFA Europa League. He has six so far this season in just three matches.

Real Have First Option on Bale?

Real Madrid will have the first opportunity to sign Gareth Bale, should Tottenham Hotspur decide to sell him (via the Daily Mirror).

Bale, a 23-year-old Welsh winger, signed a new four-year contract with Spurs in June (via the Daily Telegraph).

The new contract seemed to end speculation over Bale's future. Barcelona had been linked with Bale before then (via BBC Sport).

Spurs Missed Moutinho 'By Minutes'

Elsewhere in Tottenham transfer news, Spurs missed out on signing Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho "by minutes," according to the Daily Telegraph's Jason Burt.

Tottenham and Porto on Friday reportedly agreed to a £22 million fee (via Sky Sports) for the transfer of Moutinho. The deal, however, did not go through before the end of transfer window Friday evening.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs received an extra hour to complete the transfer, but the deal was complicated by issues of third-party ownership.

Walcott Still in Limbo?

Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott still have not agreed to a new contract, and multiple clubs remain interested in signing Walcott in January (via the Daily Mirror).

According to the Mirror, Italian clubs Juventus and Inter Milan lead the chase for Walcott, 23. Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Manchester City are also thought to be interested.

Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton as a teenager in 2006. His current contract expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool Consider Owen Move?

5 of 5

Liverpool are considering a move for former striker Michael Owen, according to ESPN FC.

The Reds loaned striker Andy Carroll to West Ham on deadline day, but their rumored interest in Daniel Sturridge and Clint Dempsey never turned into a deal.

Owen, 32, was released by Manchester United over the summer. He scored 118 league goals for Liverpool from 1996-2004.

On his Twitter account, Owen on Saturday wrote:

"

Obviously can't tell you who I'm in talks with yet. I have an idea where I will go but you never know who else could enter the fray!
