Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic Reportedly Called It Quits Months Ago

Cover the sports world for any amount of time and you are going to weep at the reality that love may not last forever, even for a seemingly perfect pair like Sasha Vujacic and Maria Sharapova. 

USA Today turns our attention to a La Gazzetta Dello Sport report that says these two have split, bringing a pall to whatever we all thought about true love, romance and things that are true and right. 

Fine, I guess they may have never been the true-love guarantee that other sports couples were; like Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian, or Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. 

We are getting off to a horrible start.

Look, just know that love does still exist in some rare corner of the world, just not the sports one. 

What troubles me is the report issues this relationship has been done for three months now. How does this world-shaping news not get out for a quarter of a year?

I understand that Maria Sharapova has been busy doing whatever it is she does. Some reports say she is something of a tennis player. 

But how do we not know every single waking moment of basketball superstar Sasha Vujacic?

In all seriousness, this is just another example of how difficult it is for athletes to have a normal life. The report cites busy international schedules for the split. 

Vujacic continues to play basketball in Turkey and Sharapova remains one of the top tennis players on the planet, continuing to travel the world through most of the year. 

Currently, the Russian athlete is awaiting her third-round matchup in the US Open against Mallory Burdette. 

Per the report, the two became an item back in 2010 and were engaged later that year. Let us all cast our evil thoughts towards "busy schedules" for destroying yet another perfect relationship.
