Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Reds Wise to Try for Daniel Sturridge on Loan
Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on Chelseaโs Daniel Sturridge as his final signing of the summer, and the young striker would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool lineup.
The Telegraphโs Chris Bascombe reported that Rodgers is interested in bringing Sturridge to Anfield on loan for the season.
Bascombe notes that the Reds had been linked to Fulhamโs Clint Dempsey, but talks with the Cottagers have not progressed and Rodgers appears ready to move on. Sturridge is rumored to be available as Chelsea is chasing Bayer Leverkusenโs Andrรฉ Schรผrrle, according to The Guardianโsย Dominicย Fifield.

Sturridge is stuck in a reserve role behind Fernando Torres, and has appeared in just one of the Bluesโ three English Premier League fixtures.
The 22-year-old spent a significant amount of time on the wing last season and was impressive. He ended the year with 11 goals and three assists in 28 Premiership appearances.
However, Sturridge played mostly as a center forward for Great Britain in the Olympics, and claims this is the role that he prefers, according to ESPN.
This versatility up front is exactly what Liverpool needs. Luis Suรกrez also excels as a center forward, but is capable of moving around and attacking from different spots on the pitch.ย
To further confuse opposing defenses, Fabio Borini is another Reds player who can play as a poacher in the box, or attack from the wing. With these three strikers, Liverpool will have a dynamic attack where all three players can attack from the center or either side.ย
Joe Allen, Steven Gerrard, Nuri Sahin and Lucas Leivaโwhen he returns from injuryโwill back the attacking line. These players will give plenty of support and quality service from the midfield.
This will provide Sturridge with an environment in which his versatility will allow him to flourish. He will see the pitch often, and he may even receive some opportunities to play in the middle.
Bringing in Sturridge would give the Reds an attacking lineup that would lead them to a productive Premier League campaign.
