Tottenham vs. Norwich: 6 Bold Predictions for Premier League Matchup

Frank WagnerJun 3, 2018

On Saturday, Tottenham takes on Norwich at White Hart Lane in a match where the result could be huge.

The two clubs enter the match equal on points, with just one taken from their first two matches. For both, their first few results should be met with some patience. After all, Spurs and Norwich are both going through some transition, with last year's managers (Harry Redknapp and Paul Lambert, respectively) being replaced by two new faces (Andre Villas-Boas and Chris Hughton, respectively).

With the date being September 1, the match will mark the start of the post-transfer window season for Spurs. Hence, a win could be the start of a nice run for Tottenham. However, any other result would just dig their hole a little deeper as they vie for a top-four spot.

So what should we expect from this matchup?

Here are six bold predictions for Spurs as they take on Norwich.

Gareth Bale Opens the Scoring in the First Half Hour

1 of 6

When these two sides met at Carrow Road last season, Bale's double were the only goals in the match. Expect the Welshman to score against Norwich again and get off the mark for the season.

After an entertaining opening few minutes, Norwich are hit by a Bale counter down the right that ends with him putting a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner.

1-0 Spurs.

But Anthony Pilkington Equalizes Before the Half

2 of 6

In last year's fixture at the Lane, Pilkington opened the scoring in Norwich's 2-1 victory in a match that was instrumental in Spurs missing out on the Champions League.

This season, I expect him to get the equalizer at the stroke of half-time.

It will be yet another mental breakdown for Tottenham, who got quite iffy in the last few seconds of the match against West Brom last week.

Moussa Dembele Comes out and Runs Roughshod over Norwich

3 of 6

After this Saturday, Norwich might not want to see Moussa Dembele again for quite a while.

For the second time in the first three matches, Dembele will rip Norwich apart with his defensive play and incisive passing.

This time, he comes out strong in the second half and rips open the Norwich defense.

Emmanuel Adebayor Gets a Quick Goal

4 of 6

Last season's top scorer for Spurs will get his newest run at Tottenham flying with a nice goal.

The hard work for them will have been done by Dembele and Gylfi Sigurdsson in getting the ball to the Togolese striker, but Ade will claim them by putting the ball past the keeper.

2-1 Spurs before 70 minutes.

Rafael Van Der Vaart Comes off the Bench and Puts the Match Away

5 of 6

There's a reason it's called a bold prediction.

Rafael van der Vaart could very well be gone to Hamburg by Saturday, but he reports of his deal hitting a few stumbling blocks could very well mean the Dutchman will stay at the Lane.

If he does, he would be a valuable sub in this match and would come on looking to prove his worth to the club.

A nice goal from distance makes it 3-1 Spurs.

No Final-Second Meltdown

6 of 6

After last weekend's collapse in the final few minutes against West Brom, seeing Spurs play through the final whistle will be a nice sight, even if the match is a bit out of reach by then.

I expect AVB to have made a strong point of trying to make this happen.

Whether because the pressure is a bit less or the side shows a bit more character, expect the job to get done.

Full time: 3-1 Spurs.
