FliZ Is Newest and Most Ridiculous Sensation in Bicycling

Gabe ZaldivarAug 29, 2012

For those people who love biking but hate all the unrelenting cycling involved, there is an insane contraption for you.

Core77.com would like to introduce us to the FliZ.

It's a non-bike bike for non-cyclists who would rather run—complete with a harness too.

Here is a description from a blog dedicated to the bike:

"

The prior aim of developing FLIZ was to bring a completely new driving experience to everyone. Based on the very first bike - the “Laufrad“ - we created a velocipede concept of healthy, ecological mobility in overcrowded urban space. Its laminated, innovative frame with 5 point belt system provides a comfortable, ergonomic ride between running and biking. The frame integrates the rider and due to its construction it works both like a suspension and like a top carrier whereas the belt replaces the saddle and adjusts your position.

"

This is perfect for those people that love biking but hate the lack of running involved.

The harness will no doubt have you feeling like Superman as you soar through the sky, but without all that unnecessary swag that comes along with not being tied to a bike that looks like this.

Here is a video that has no sound for risk of making a beautiful sight almost too brilliant too watch. Like staring at the sun for too long, here is a flash of the FliZ in motion:

Only in Germany does a plaza full of people remain stagnant as this bike pulls through. The only reaction to seeing this in public has to be running after it in the hopes of catching it, like a firefly or Pokemon.

The Droid Guy does raise an obvious concern, though: "One safety concern is that rider’s head is wedged between the frame, so that can pose a problem in case of crash."

Yeah, that sounds like a minor oversight when you consider the possibility of going end over end with the proud head of a sensible consumer exposed to the wild elements known as asphalt and pavement.

Not that anyone would dare wear a helmet while riding these things. No, because that would be just too uncool.

I await mine in the mail.

Follow me on Twitter and we can FliZ together.
