Lionel Messi Stars in New Commercial for Mexican Bread Maker (Video)

Lionel Messi and Bimbo: a match made in advertising heaven? You be the judge.

Plenty of you are probably familiar with Bimbo, the Mexican bread company. Bimbo has maintained a notable presence on shirt-fronts in Latin countries for years.

And all of you are familiar with Messi's work. The 25-year-old Argentine forward is the two-time defending winner of the Ballon d'Or, which is awarded to the world's best player.

So, how do the two combine in the world of advertising?

See for yourself. The clip, which is in Spanish, is the Set Piece video of the day.

Now, admittedly, my Spanish is poor (thanks a ton, Rosetta Stone), but from the clip it's easy to figure out that the woman in the supermarket mistakes Messi for somebody else. What planet has she been living on?

Anyway, the woman eventually gets Messi to come over for dinner, at which point her son is too star-struck to eat. That's it. Oh, and eat Bimbo.

So, then, the message here is to bring superstars home for dinner so that your kids will be too nervous to eat. Right?

That's what I got out of it at least.
