One game stands between UConn and the top spot in the polls after Pitt lost on Thursday. But the Fighting Irish aren't going to go down easy—they have found their stride after losing seven games in a row, and they are currently trying to make their case for an at-large bid.

A win over the number two team in the nation would be a pretty strong statement for that bid.

Overall, the Irish have been having a pretty good season. Their long losing streak, although surprising, is forgiveable—afterall, four of those losses came to teams that were ranked in the top ten at the time, and six of the seven losses came against ranked opponents.

The Irish have already had one chance at redemption for one of the losses during that stretch—they did so by taking down Louisville by 33 points. The last time UConn faced Notre Dame, they snapped the nation's longest home win streak with a 69-61 win.

That makes the chance at redemption extra sweet for the Irish.
