WWE Monday Night Raw: Match Results and Show Thoughts

The Monday, Aug. 27 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw took place at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

WWE Raw was highlighted by whether Triple H would retire from wrestling after his loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. During his promo in the ring, Triple H remained unsure on whether to retire from wrestling but thanked the fans for their support throughout the years.

Also, General Manager AJ Lee made the CM Punk and John Cena match official for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions pay-per-view.

Ryback vs. Jack Swagger in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Ryback. Another quick victory for Ryback, as he is beginning to look completely dominate in his matches.

Layla vs. Natalya in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Layla. 

The Miz vs. John Cena in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: John Cena. Cena picked up a nice, clean win over The Miz to gain some momentum heading into the Night of Champions PPV. Meanwhile, The Miz had some pretty good offense in this match, but it was not enough for the victory.

Heath Slater vs. Santino Marella in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Santino Marella. This was a completely comical matchup with not much to cover about.

Brodus Clay and Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes in a tag team match.

Your winners via pin fall: Brodus Clay and Sin Cara. A pretty quick tag team match that saw Rhodes once again unsuccessful in his attempt to take off Sin Cara's mask.

R-Truth vs. Daniel Bryan in a singles match.

Your winner via count out: R-Truth. Bryan was counted out after getting into a confrontation with the live audience taunting him. This match had much more potential to be a fun one to watch, but instead viewers got a count out and Bryan losing his mind, which was entertaining to watch on its own.

Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton and Sheamus in a tag team match.

Your winners via pin fall: Randy Orton and Sheamus. Not a spectacular tag team match but a decent one. This match also helps promote the Del Rio and Sheamus title match, as Alberto became the new No. 1 contender on SmackDown last Friday after his victory over Orton.

Zack Ryder vs. David Otunga

Your winner via pin fall: Zack Ryder. Ryder was once again on Raw and made the best of it with a victory. Another quick match on Raw. After the Ryder win, Kane entered the ring and chokeslammed Otunga.

Jerry Lawler vs. CM Punk in a steel cage match.

Your winner via submission: CM Punk. Unfortunately, this match will certainly not be remembered by wrestling fans. It appeared towards the end of the show the crowd got quiet, especially during this match. There just wasn't any spark to it to get fans excited. 

After the match, Cena came out, but Punk continued to attack Lawler inside the steel cage. Once Cena came in the ring for the save, Punk bailed and left as Raw closed. The final moments of Raw helped Punk grow stronger as a heel with his attacks on Lawler.
