Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and Predicting the TNA Bound for Glory Series
With just a short time left, the Bound For Glory series is beginning to enter the final stages. Here are the updated standings (via TNA Wrestling):
Leading the pack is James Storm, who holds the No. 1 spot and 66 points. Samoa Joe is right behind him at No. 2, with 61 points. At No. 3 Rob Van Dam has 55 points, and sitting at No. 4 is AJ Styles, with 50 points.
Kurt Angle and Bully Ray remain in a deadlocked tie at No. 5, with 48 points each. Mr. Anderson is just one point behind Angle and Ray at No. 6, with 47 points.
In need of a victory is Jeff Hardy, who is at No. 7, with 42 points.
My Prediction: The Top 4 Wrestlers Heading into the No Surrender Pay-Per-View
With the TNA No Surrender pay-per-view coming up on Sunday, September 9, the top points leaders will get to battle in the ring to see who will advance as the new No. 1 contender at Bound For Glory for the world heavyweight title.
As of right now, the top four in the standings would make a terrific match to watch. Each of the four wrestlers provides solid in-ring work and has had history with the TNA heavyweight belt.
But when the Bound For Glory series is finally concluded, the standings may see a shift in the top four.
In a very tough prediction, Storm will be at No. 1. At No. 2 will be Joe, as he has been deserving to stay high in the rankings. The No. 3 slot will be held by Van Dam, and Angle will move past Styles for the No. 4 slot.
Although it would be perfectly fine to see Styles in the top four, Angle certainly brings his best performances under pressure. Even though it appears the storyline among Styles, Daniels and Kazarian is over, there could be something brewing to cost AJ his position in the standings.
These few next Impact Wrestling episodes and TNA house shows should see the intensity of the Bound For Glory series heat up.
