Norwich City: 6 Things About QPR Draw

James KentJun 4, 2018

I think most Norwich City supporters are relieved with just a little disappointment after the 1-1 draw with QPR. This was a much improved performance from Fulham, and a point is the least they deserved from an encouraging workout.

Every match performance has its good and its bad, but there was a lot more positive than negative for Norwich, which can give fans hope that it it will not be a season of struggle.

A Very Promising Debut from Robert Snodgrass

I was surprised to hear comments slating the performance of Robert Snodgrass after the match. Clearly I saw a different game, because I thought he was superb. The only slight disappointing element was the end product at times, but I'm confident that will come with more games.

However, as home debuts go, this was pretty good. He was always very dangerous and positive whenever he received the ball. This is all very positive for Norwich, especially if he can prove to create and score goals like he did in the Championship last season.

Garrido Seems to Have the Perfect Balance of Defense and Attack

Full backs tend to be either very solid or very good good going forward. The evidence of the QPR game suggests that Garrido may have the perfect balance between the two. Although, we will learn more in the next few games, it was certainly an encouraging start.

The Subs Were Left Too Late

I was shocked that Chris Hughton left it so late to make a change. It seemed obvious to many of us in the ground that we needed something extra with 10-15 minutes to go. Bringing on Steve Morison and Chris Martin so late didn't serve any real purpose.

Can Wes Hoolahan Consider Himself to Be Unlucky?

4 of 6

It was a surprise that Wes Hoolahan was not involved at all, and one would have thought he could have been an option to bring on from the bench. It staggers me that Chris Martin is still at the football club, and I don't think it serves much purpose to use him. We know exactly what we get with Hoolahan, and perhaps we needed some of his magic to create something.

Surely We Need More Strikers?

5 of 6

Something about the strikers we have available doesn't quite feel right, and I can't understand how we can have enough options. Simeon Jackson had a lively game and took his goal very well, but Holt hardly had a stiff and this is a concern. We certainly need another proven goal-scorer to ensure we do not struggle for goals this season.

Does Leon Barnett Have a Future at the Club?

6 of 6

Leon Barnett is another player that I am surprised to still see at the football club. It was even more surprising to see him starting a Premier League game. But, to be fair, he did a decent job and now must fancy his chances of keeping his place in the side. Nevertheless, it is hard to imagine that he will be part of a solid Premier League defense on a regular basis.
