Madden 13: Terrell Owens and Notable Players Included in First Roster Update

Brian MaziqueJun 3, 2018

If you were wondering if Terrell Owens, and other late additions to NFL teams, would be added to Madden 13 by launch, I can put those concerns to bed for you.

Owens was the first player I went looking for, and he's there with an 80 overall rating.

Wow, things move fast in the NFL. Three minutes after I published this article T.O. announced his release from the Seahawks. Here is his tweet:

"

I'm no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.

— Terrell Owens (@terrellowens) August 26, 2012"

Expect this to be reflected in the next roster update.

Most, if not all acquisitions are represented in the game as of August 24, and that even includes some injury adjustments like Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens and Jason Peters of the Philadelphia Eagles placed as inactive.

Of course, you can play with those guys if you adjust the depth chart in exhibition play, or you disable the pre-existing injury option.

Chad Johnson has also been removed from the Miami Dolphins' roster.

But if you want to play in the same world as the pros, things are set up for that by default.

As far as big-name players added late, here is a breakdown of the biggest names:

Terrell Owens, Seattle Seahawks

Even though T.O. is the second-highest rated receiver on the roster, he is fourth on the depth chart by default. You can elevate him to a starter's role, of course.

If it were up to me, I'd have him starting alongside Sidney Rice.

Cedric Benson, Green Bay Packers

The Packers' RB situation wasn't very good on Madden without Benson.

He's only rated an 82 overall, so he isn't exactly Adrian Peterson, but with James Starks being rated a 77 overall, Benson should start for most gamers that choose the Pack.

Josh Gordon, Cleveland Browns

Gordon was taken in the supplemental draft by the Browns. He's only a rookie, and not one of the more highly touted ones at that.

He does have some size at 6'3", 225 pounds, but he's only rated a 66 overall to start.

This will probably matter more for people that pick the Browns for Connected Careers.
