Three Things to Watch for in Utah Spring Practice
Spring practice starts: March 10
Spring game: April 18
Three Things to watch
1. The Utes will need to replace their playmakers on both offense and defense. They lost their top passer, three receivers, sack leader, and interception leader. On offense look for WR Aiona Key and RB Matt Asiata, and defensively LB Stevenson Sylvester and DE James Aiono.
2. Quarterback? This is a four-player race between junior Corbin Louks, JC transfer Terrance Cain, true freshman Jordan Wynn, and current Ute DeVonte Christopher. The upper hand goes to Louks because of game experience, but expect no decision until fall camp.
3. Coaches—this may seem odd, but Utah lost their offensive and defensive coordinator this year as well as their offensive line coach. Head coach Kyle Whittingham hired within, but first time coordinators Kalani Sitake and Dave Schramm will need to prove their worth. Watching the coaches is hard, but look for it in the spring game, especially on offense, since Schramm previously held the running back coaches spot for Utah.
