Chelsea Transfer News: David Luiz Is Not for Sale, Says Roberto Di Matteo
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has strongly indicated that defender David Luiz will not be leaving Stamford Bridge at all this summer.
The news comes after Spanish giants Barcelona were reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian international (per Daily Mail)—leaving the Blues boss to emphatically emphasize that Luiz is not for sale over the transfer window, according to The Express.
"David [Luiz] is part of our long-term future. It's normal that he attracts interest because he is a Brazilian international.
But we have not had any approaches and he is not for sale at any price. Barcelona's reputation does not concern me. The player will be here in the long term—I think we can withstand Barcelona.

The news comes as Chelsea announce the official signing of Cesar Azpilicueta from Marsielle for £7 million—further strengthening their defense and their squad for the current 2012/13 English Premier League season.
The European Champions have spent over £80 million over the summer transfer window—bringing in Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, Oscar, Victor moses and Azpilicueta—making it their largest transfer window since Abramovich's £111 million spending spree in 2003, according to The Daily Mirror.
Yet as good as signing new players is, it is only beneficial if already-existing players remain at the club and the current squad can have the opportunity to strengthen and consolidate.
After winning the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last year, Chelsea have kept much of the same squad and will no doubt be a serious contender throughout all domestic and European competitions this season.
Part of it is signing new talent, but it's also about keeping the quality players you already have and making sure you can build on what happened last season.
David Luiz could attest this season as to how important that truly is.
Is it a good thing that Chelsea have kept David Luiz for this season?
