NFL's Best Overall Player? How Could One Decide?

It's almost impossible to properly value one position against another in the NFL. Of course, that has never stopped us from trying. So if we were to take a stab at naming the best overall player in pro football, would he most likely be a quarterback?

Let's take a look at our potential finalists. 

Aaron Rodgers sat the bench behind one of the best in Green Bay, but has since become one of the game's greats himself. Rodgers was the MVP of Super Bowl XLV and led his team to a 15-1 record in the regular season last year. He distributes the ball well from the pocket, but also has the potential to scramble for big gains. 

Darrelle Revis is the NFL's premier cornerback. The New York Jets' defender usually covers (and usually dominates) the best wide receiver on his opponent's team. He is as dependable as any defensive player in the NFL today. 

Calvin Johnson is a freak of nature, with his tall frame and condor-like wingspan. Double-teaming or even triple-teaming this guy in the red zone doesn't slow him down; the Georgia Tech product averaged over 100 receiving yards per game in 2011. 

Rob Gronkowski delivers wide-receiver speed with linebacker toughness and turns short catches into big gains. Gronk very quickly became Tom Brady's favorite target last season, as the New England Patriots reached their second Super Bowl in four years.

So, which of these players is the best in the NFL overall? Or did we forget someone?
