US Open Tennis 2012 TV Schedule: Day by Day Listings for Entire Tournament

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

The 2012 U.S. Open is set to begin from Flushing Meadows, New York this Monday, marking the beginning of the year's final major tennis tournament.

The annual Grand Slam event never fails to entertain and has produced some of the greatest champions in the sport over the years.

With stars like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova all gunning for the title in Queens, fans won't want to miss a minute of the hard court action.

With that said, here is everything you need to know to tune into the next two weeks of non-stop tennis coverage at this summer's U.S. Open.

Player to Watch on Men's Side: Novak Djokovic

Last year's U.S. Open champion, Novak Djokovic returns in 2012 as one of the few favorites on the men's side. Djokovic is the No. 2 seed, but will have a favorable draw up until a potential final match against either No. 1 Roger Federer or No. 3 Andy Murray. Both players beat Djokovic at Wimbledon earlier this summer. Fed edged him in the semifinals of the Wimbledon Championships, while Murray defeated Djokovic at the London Olympic Games.

Djokovic is an extremely gifted hard court player however, and won't make the same mistakes he made at the All England Club at Flushing Meadows. His body is built to withstand the punishing two-week play of a Grand Slam, and he'll benefit from both the surface and the withdrawal of 2010 U.S. Open champion Rafael Nadal this summer.

Player to Watch on Women's Side: Serena Williams

Of course the crowd will be cheering loudly for American star Serena Williams, who has had a remarkable summer after looking off her game to start the year. Williams steamrolled the competition at Wimbledon two months ago and recently brought home Olympic gold for the United States at the London Games.

A three-time U.S. Open champion, Williams will be seeded fourth at this year's Slam and will avoid both No. 1-seeded Victoria Azarenka and No. 3-seeded Maria Sharapova until a possible final clash. Williams is on the absolute top of her game coming into Flushing Meadows and has been serving lights out at recent marquee tournaments. Expect the American to make plenty of noise this summer.
