Free Agency Madness (Updated)
Mark TravisFeb 26, 2009
Here are the latest happenings in the Free Agent realm (from latest to oldest):
- ESPN’s John Clayton lists six teams that are willing to pay defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth $30-$40 million guaranteed.
- ESPN.com’s Paul Kuharsky is reporting that the Tennessee Titans may look towards free agent defensive tackle Chris Canty to fill the void that Albert Haynesworth will most likely be leaving in the Music City.
- ProFootballTalk.com is also reporting that the New York Jets have emerged as the favorite to sign for Baltimore Raven linebacker Bart Scott. Scott will visit the Jets according to SportingNews.com’s Alex Marvez. ESPN.com’s Tim Graham also reported that Scott had some nice things to say about the Jets’ coaching staff minutes after free agency began.
- Mike Florio has reported that the Denver Broncos are targeting running backs J.J. Arrington and Correll Buckhalter but have not agreed to terms with them just yet.
- T.J. Houshmandzadeh told ESPN’s Mike Hill on “NFL Live” that he was “a little nervous.” When asked about what teams he would prefer to go to, T.J. listed the Eagles, Giants, Seahawks and Vikings. Houshmandzadeh got a little excited when he talked about the possibility of playing with Adrian Peterson, saying he would win 98.6 percent of the one-on-one match-ups he got.
- ESPN’s John Clayton reported the first signing of the off-season. The Washington Redskins signed cornerback DeAngelo Hall to a six-year, $54 million deal. Hall will play opposite of Charles Rogers, which makes for a nice CB tandem.
