Madden 13: Breaking Down the Top Defensive Stars to Control

It's no secret that Madden 13 users would prefer to play offense.

But, when they have to get a stop in order to take over as their favorite offensive stars, they will want to be in control of one of the Top 10 defenders in this year's video game.

Players like Julius Peppers, DeMarcus Ware and Darrelle Revis are among the best defensive stars on the gridiron in Madden 13 and bring unbeatable ratings to their respective teams.

With that said, let's break down the top defensive stars to control in this year's Madden. 

Jared Allen

The Minnesota Vikings defensive end led the NFL in sacks last season, recording 22 in 2011. In Madden 13, Allen will have plenty of power and speed for users to wreak havoc with. Allen forced four fumbles a season ago and will certainly be a threat to swing momentum with a timely turnover in the fantasy world.

Allen's unique personality and celebrations will make him a fun player to control as well on the Vikings defensive line. He will be a safe user option too, considering that he will most likely be rushing the passer all game long. 

Ed Reed

Roaming the Baltimore Ravens secondary with Ed Reed in Madden 13 promises to be just as thrilling as watching Reed shut down opposing passing attacks on Sundays. Reed is one of the greatest safeties in the history of the game and consistently gets his hands on the ball.

What will make Reed an even more exciting defender to control in Madden, though, will be his ability to turn a simple interception or fumble into a game-changing touchdown. It might not be a bad idea to make Reed your team's punt returner based on his speed knack for big plays. 

Patrick Willis

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis is an all-around phenomenal defend, evidenced by his sure tackling, ability to defend both the run and pass as well as his strength in forcing turnovers. Willis will anchor the Niners defense in Madden 13, making San Francisco's D one to be feared in the video game, as well as in real life.

Willis, like Jared Allen and Ed Reed, is ranked among the Top 10 defensive players in Madden 13 and will bring an unmatched rating to the table for all those San Francisco 49ers fans who can't wait to play as their favorite team.
