WWE: Why Daniel Bryan Deserves the Main Event Spot

Michael GuadalupeAug 24, 2012

Daniel Bryan gets some of the best crowd reactions out of all the wrestlers in the WWE.  He is also one of the top performers in the company.  Clearly, Bryan deserves to be in the main event spot, yet instead of wrestling for a title at SummerSlam, Bryan wrestled Kane.

Sure, their match was solid, but if Bryan is such a big draw at this point, why is the WWE not putting him where he belongs?

Bryan is a main-eventer, and deserves to be in a main event spot.

NO! NO! NO!

One of Bryan's biggest appeals is the reaction he gets from the crowd.  He was getting a great reaction with his YES! chants, but then when he began to go a little insane and switched it to NO!, the crowd reactions around Bryan exploded.

No other heel gets met with as much of a reaction as Bryan does.  What makes it even better is how he interacts with the fans.  Going back and forth in a screaming contest with a fan is great, and shows Bryan's dedication to his heel role.

What other heel wrestlers interact with fans like Bryan does?

Even on the mic, Bryan is dominating.  His backstage promos with A.J., and how he acts in the ring with that angry look on his face, absorbed by the fans and their chants of yes, proves Bryan has the skill required when it comes to promos and mic work to be a main event wrestler.

The fans alone make Bryan one of the top heels in the WWE, and should be more than enough reason to push him back into the main event spot.

Wrestling Ability

CM Punk believes that he is the best in the world.  And while Punk was recently ranked No. 1 on the top 500 PWI 2012 list, some of his best matches this year came when he was matched up against Daniel Bryan.

It hasn't just been against CM Punk that Bryan has shined though.  When he was feuding for the world heavyweight title against Sheamus, Bryan also had great matches.  More recently, these two put on a great street fight match.

He even put on a solid bout with the Big Red Monster at SummerSlam.  Bryan has the skill to be in the main event spot, and has proven it time and time again.  He can counter almost anything thrown at him, is extremely versatile in the ring, and can look good wrestling any type of opponent.

Daniel Bryan has all the wrestling ability to main event, and then some.

From The Bottom to The Top

At one point in his WWE career, Daniel Bryan was fired.  Other wrestlers, and WWE fans though, helped bring Bryan back.

Bryan started his WWE career on NXT as a rookie, and over the last couple of years has managed to come back after being fired, and also elevate himself through the ranks.  If Bryan were a mediocre wrestler, with no solid fan following, chances are he wouldn't have been re-hired by the WWE.

Bryan has earned his spot in the WWE, it was never given to him.  Did he get his fair share of pushes to reach the level where he is now?  Maybe, if you count his Money In The Bank win as a push, but Bryan has proven to the WWE that he can main event, so was it really a risk for them to put the heavyweight championship on him last year?

Bryan clawed his way to the top, and it's where he belongs.

If Not Bryan, Then Who?

The WWE seems to enjoy wasting main event pushes on other wrestlers who are nowhere near the skill level of Bryan.  Alberto Del Rio for example, has been involved in the World Heavyweight Championship scene for way too long.  Not only is Del Rio boring in the ring, he gets nowhere near the fan reaction of Bryan.

Even the scene around the WWE championship was lacking what Bryan could have brought to it.  At SummerSlam, for example, why waste a Triple Threat spot with the Big Show, when the match would have been better with Daniel Bryan in his place?

Bryan is one of the top heels in the company, so why isn't he being put into the main event spot?  Why does the WWE choose to push other wrestlers who can't keep up with the heat and the skill Bryan has?

Daniel Bryan deserves to be in the main event spot, regardless of whether the WWE wants to admit that or not.
