Little League World Series 2012 Results: Scores & Analysis of Tuesday's Action
Uganda's first Little League World Series win came on Tuesday, and that was just one notable moment from the day's action.
The International and U.S. championships are almost here. Teams will battle it out in semifinal action on Wednesday and Thursday to decide who moves on.
Let's take a look at the three games from Tuesday and the biggest moments from each.
Mexico 6, Curacao 2
Ramon Ballina's powerful bat struck again for Mexico on Tuesday. He cracked his third home run of the tournament with a three-run shot against Curacao.
This game really came down to one inning. Mexico knocked home five runs in the third frame, including Ballina's blast to right-center field.
The absence of Mexican manager Fenando Rios made this game feel bizarre from the beginning. He was suspended two games for not getting all of his players an at-bat.
Mexico will play the loser of Panama and Japan on Wednesday.
Uganda 3, Oregon 2
This game gave us one of this year's best LLWS moments. Uganda won their first ever LLWS game in a consolation contest over Oregon.
Tuesday's game didn't necessarily matter, but it did for the players involved. Daniel Alio and Felix Enzama both contributed at the plate, and Greg Mehlhaff had a consistent night on the mound.
Neither one of these teams will move on, but Uganda got what they wanted. Being able to take one victory home with them was enough satisfaction to last them until their next LLWS opportunity.
California 5, Connecticut 0
Petaluma, Calif. was averaging over five runs per game entering Tuesday night, and they hit their mark again against Fairfield, Conn..
Hance Smith knocked a three-run shot in the third inning, and his team never looked back. Quinton Gago's seven strikeouts kept Fairfield at bay for almost the entire game.
California will play the loser of Tennessee and Texas on Wednesday for the right to advance to the U.S championship. Just because they already carry one loss, don't discount this team's ability.
Stay tuned to LLWS action as we inch closer to crowning an ultimate champion.
