Manchester United Transfer News: Tracking All the Latest Rumors and Updates
Ten days—that's all that remains in the summer transfer window for teams to make the moves and deals they've been trying to make all summer.
Manchester United have been strong so far in the window—netting big targets including Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie—and building their squad for the 2012-13 English Premier League season and beyond.
We've got all the latest United transfer news, rumors and updates, so read on to find out who else could be making a move to Old Trafford over the final 10 days of the summer transfer window.
Alexander Buttner
1 of 6Manchester United have completed the signing of Dutch defender Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem, according to The Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old was one of the best left-backs in the Eredivisie last season and has made a five-year, £3.9 million deal with the Red Devils—much to the delight of manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who said:
"Alexander is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and we're delighted to sign him...He gives us some really exciting options in that position.
"
Fernando Llorente
2 of 6Fernando Llorente's agent has sensationally claimed that the striker has attracted attention from two clubs in England about a potential move over the summer transfer window, stating via The Telegraph (h/t Goal) that one is in London and one is in Manchester.
The news comes after Llorente himself was quoted only days earlier by ITASportPress.it (h/t Goal) that he was more than happy to remain at Atletic Bilbao this season.
Dimitar Berbatov
3 of 6Dimitar Berbatov's future has been one of the most discussed this summer transfer window, and with less than two weeks remaining, the striker has reportedly made a plea for United to "let him go" to Italy and join Fiorentina, according to The Daily Mirror.
The 31-year-old has slipped significantly down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and with Robin van Persie now in their lineup, Berbatov has little to no chance of receiving any significant game time for the Red Devils this year.
Kaka
4 of 6According to The Daily Mail, Sir Alex Ferguson is seriously considering a one-year loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, who is reportedly not wanted by Jose Mourinho this year.
The 2007 World Player of the Year is unlikely to feature heavily for Madrid this season—particularly if they sign Luka Modric from Tottenham Hotspur—and represents an interesting option for the United as they seek to boost their midfield with new attacking options.
I'm not sold on this being a good deal for United; we'll just have to wait and see how this one pans our for the Red Devils.
Angelo Henriquez
5 of 6Manchester United are on the verge of announcing the successful transfer of Angelo Henriguez, who has been granted a work permit for the upcoming English Premier League season (per Goal).
The 18-year-old striker is likely to go out on loan now that his permit has gone through—perhaps even remaining at his current club Universidad de Chile (per ESPN Soccernet).
Hector Herrera
6 of 6Wrapping up the Manchester United transfer news for this week is Hector Herrera—Mexico's Olympic hero—who could be making a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Pachuca's sporting director, Andres Fassi, told ESPN (via Goal.com):
"There is an official interest... Manchester United and Liverpool have talked to us.
At whatever moment he wants, he can leave Pachuca and the club will give him the opportunity to do so.
