Tottenham Transfer Rumors: Spurs to Make £12M Bid for Roma's Miralem Pjanic

Tottenham has seemed ferocious in this summer's transfer market. With just 10 days left before the window closes, we'll see if all that hard work bears any fruit.

New manager Andre Villas-Boas has continually reiterated that his Spurs will continue to search for better players until midnight on August 31st. His latest comment to TalkSport.co.uk said as much:

We are obviously looking to strengthen the squad. We have to be very careful with the market still open... It isn't for a lack of trying that we haven’t bought somebody else, hopefully we will try and conclude a deal this week.

"

While much of the attention has gone towards Villas-Boas' efforts towards finding another striker, the hole Luka Modric left at attacking midfielder has been paid little attention—except by Villas-Boas, of course.

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham is preparing to make a £12 million bid for Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Roma are in desperate need of funds and with Daniele De Rossi reportedly set to announce that he will turn down Manchester City to stay at the club, the 22-year-old becomes an expendable line on the club's books.

Pjanic started his professional career in Ligue 1, signing with Metz in 2007. He was quickly spotted by Olympique Lyonnais who made a bid for the young player. He stayed on until Roma came knocking in the summer of 2011 and featured heavily at the Italian club, earning 29 starts and collecting three goals and seven assists.

A gifted technical player, the Bosnian international is an up-and-coming talent in the international game, earning 31 caps for his country and scoring four goals in all competitions.
