Manchester United Transfer News: United Completes Signing of Alexander Buttner

Simon EdmondsAug 21, 2012

Manchester United have signed 23-year-old Dutch left-back Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem on a five-year deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The signing marks the likely end of one of United's most active summers since the Premier League began.

Buttner joins the likes of Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell, who have all joined the Red Devils this transfer window.

Although, with news that Kaka is looking for a club to spend the season on loan with, according to The Daily Mail, that may not end up being the case.

Nevertheless, Buttner is very much a player for the future, despite Sir Alex touting him as being one of the best natural left-backs in the world right now.

With Patrice Evra looking far from his best, it would not be too ridiculous to assume that the Dutchman could break into the Manchester United starting XI sooner rather than later.

Whether or not he does get in the team ahead of Evra, Buttner is still crucial cover for the position, after Fergie allowed Brazilian defender Fabio da Silva to join QPR on a season-long loan deal.

This sudden strengthening of the squad in all areas comes as a relief to many United fans, who had perhaps begun to worry about the side's potential quality a few years down the line.

Buttner is a superstar of tomorrow.
