Jericho had just won against Ziggler the night before at SummerSlam, much to the delight of his fans across the world. That's how he should have left the WWE. Instead, he was defeated at a lesser venue, while many of the viewers from the night before were busy getting back into the swing of things for a new work week.
It was like finding out that the President of the United States signed a crappy law in the middle of a Friday night on a holiday weekend so that nobody would have any time to watch the news.
Everyone knows he's already on the road with his band, Fozzy, and we all assumed that he'd be leaving the grind on top of the world.
He's surely earned that honor after the years of hard work, the countless shows and the endless miles the wrestlers of the WWE endure as they tour the country.
But no. The WWE, in its great wisdom, saw fit to see him off as a loser.
Dirty pool, old chaps.
At least Jericho was able to leave with his pride intact.
At the very end, while Ziggler was dancing like a fool with the briefcase he won following his victory, Jericho snatched it and hit him over the head with it. He gave his fans one last reason to cheer with a vicious Codebreaker and then left the stage, possibly for good.
