Terrelle Pryor a Future Wide Receiver for the NFL?

Kyle StrittholtFeb 26, 2009

Terrelle Pryor has many talents and is extremely athletic. As a quarterback he scares opposing defenses to death not knowing what he’s going to do. He can either run the ball, which if you’re not expecting it can really burn you. Or he can throw the ball down field.

A lot of people say he’s not that great of a passer, but his first start he threw for four touchdowns and already tied for most touchdowns thrown by a freshman at Ohio State.

Not only did he just run and pass, but against Texas he caught a touchdown pass from Todd Boekman.

The way he caught it was amazing, and it was one of many big plays on both side of that game. He almost caught one for a two point conversion but was called for pushing off.

His six foot six frame makes him able to play almost any position on the field.

So the question is what will he play when he goes pro?

The NFL isn’t a great place for mobile quarterbacks. Right now that’s what everyone sees in Pryor is just a run first pass second. So if that keeps up could he play any other position?

The way it looked he could make a pretty good wide receiver, and with the NFL wanting pocket passers he may just have to switch his position if he wants to play in the big leagues.

Look at all the mobile quarterbacks that have been drafted recently, and see where they are. Vince Young, Troy Smith, Chris Leak, Jamarcus Russell, and Marcus Vick are all mobile quarterbacks.

The only one who’s starting is Jamarcus Russell and he’s not doing to well.

Vince Young got hurt, and lost his job.

Troy Smith just has bad luck and is probably the one person in this group who could make a difference for his team.

Lastly is Chris Leak and he hasn’t had luck since the National Championship game.

This all widely depends on how Pryor grows as a quarterback.

If he continues to grow into more of a passer, like Troy Smith did, I think maybe he can be drafted as a Quarterback.

He has the height that the NFL scouts want in a quarterback, but if he don’t grow the skill he at least has a plan B.
