WWE SummerSlam 2012 Results: What We Learned from Chris Jericho's Win

Chris Jericho came away with the win in his match with Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam in a decision that may have surprised many viewers.

It looked like they were building Ziggler up to be the guy who sent Jericho packing so he could do his tour with Fozzy, but Y2J pulled out a hard-fought win.

So what does that teach us?

It teaches us two two things: WWE is willing to have Ziggler put others over when he should be groomed to be the next World champion, and Chris Jericho might be around for a little bit longer.

I fully expected WWE to write him off television so he could spend some time away following the event, but it is possible they have other plans for that.

As far as Ziggler goes, a win over Jericho would have been huge in his quest to look like a real threat to the World champion, but WWE dropped a ball it could have scored a three-pointer with.

Ziggler going over Jericho should have been the decision. Jericho did not need that win. Ziggler did.

Ziggler holds one of the Money in the Bank briefcases and yet is not being booked any more like championship material than he was three months ago.

The match Jericho and Ziggler put on was great. Hopefully they will soon have a chance to do it again and outdo this match, but if they do then Ziggler should be the one with his hand raised at the end of the bout.

Dolph Ziggler is important to the future of this company, and WWE needs to stop treating him with a hot and cold approach to his push.

I enjoyed this match, and I enjoyed SummerSlam overall, but I would be singing much higher praises had Ziggler finally gained a much-deserved win.

Even though I complain, Michael Cole did remind us that Jericho had not won a PPV match since making his most recent return, so I guess he was due for a win.
