WWE SummerSlam 2012: US Title Will Get More Respect Without Santino
Thank God Santino Marella lost the United States Championship. It's not that I don't like Santino, but he held on to the title for too long.
His title reign became something of a farce, and comedy acts shouldn't be champions.
I'd almost forgotten that Santino actually can be a solid in-ring performer. He showed some flashes of it during this match, but he doesn't have the in-ring appeal that Antonio Cesaro has.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
I enjoyed the abuse of the Cobra during the match—that was old-school prop destruction. Cesaro has an assortment of throws and a decent amount of agility. His gimmick needs some tweaking, but he definitely has the tools to become at least a moderately high-level star.
The United States Championship will help put him over.
I'm hoping no longstanding feud is to come with these two. Santino would be better suited in an angle where his comedic talents can be better utilized.
Cesaro could change the U.S. title back to the European title. If he does that, I'd like to see Jack Swagger turn face and enter a feud with Cesaro.
The All-American American could use something to pump some life back into his career. If he is allowed to carry the patriotic flag against a foreign heel, it could be interesting.
Most of all, those two men could put on an entertaining set of matches.
It's been real, Santino, but now it's time for a champion that wrestles more than he jokes.
