WWE SummerSlam 2012: Match Predictions and Thoughts

Daniel PeragineJun 7, 2018

Tonight on Sunday, August 19th, the WWE presents its SummerSlam 2012 pay-per-view event. With weeks of buildup for this event, WWE SummerSlam features a solid PPV card for wrestling fans to watch (via WWE.com).

Here is a complete preview of the matches that will take place and predictions of what will occur at SummerSlam.

Antonio Cesaro versus Santino Marella for the WWE United States Championship

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

This will be a pre-show match to get the live crowd and fans watching at home warmed up for SummerSlam. Marella should still hold on to the United States title until when it is necessary for a switch.

Your winner to retain the United States championship: Santino Marella.

The Prime Time Players versus Kofi Kingston and R-Truth for the WWE Tag Team titles

I can see the WWE giving the Prime Time Players a major push as the new tag team champions. They have not had success against Kingston and R-Truth, but look for the Prime Time Players to have their hands raised at the end of the match.

Your winner and new WWE Tag Team champions: The Prime Time Players.

Rey Mysterio versus The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

This was a tough match to predict. While it seems like a decent idea for The Miz to lose the belt to Mysterio, I believe it is too soon into his championship run to pull the string on him. However, having the title on Mysterio gives the returning star a strong start.

Your winner to retain the Intercontinental Championship: The Miz.

Kane versus Daniel Bryan

In this singles match, Kane should see the victory in this one. Daniel Bryan, who has dealt with plenty of issues on recent episodes of Monday Night Raw with General Manager AJ Lee, will look impressive but not enough to gain the win over Kane.

Your winner: Kane.

Chris Jericho versus Dolph Ziggler

This has all the makings for a terrific singles match. Jericho, who is running toward the end of his career, has been bothered by a rising star in Ziggler. Ziggler, who has taunted Jericho recently for losing his touch in the ring, should see his words come back to haunt him.

Your winner: Chris Jericho.

The Big Show versus John Cena versus CM Punk for the WWE Championship

There are plenty of questions surrounding this match. Will Cena finally get another WWE title run? Will CM Punk retain his title to begin a potential feud with The Rock? Can the Big Show be able to pull a surprise and be crowned as the new WWE Champion? All of these questions will be answered but with Punk turning heel recently by attacking The Rock, I am fully leaning towards him to retain the title.

Your winner to retain the WWE Championship: CM Punk.

Alberto Del Rio versus Sheamus for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Sheamus has enjoyed a solid WWE Heavyweight Championship streak, but it will not be an easy task with Del Rio as his opponent. After watching this match build up, I am expecting Del Rio to become the new champion because he is due for another title run and brings in another strong heel as champion.

Your winner and new WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio.

Triple H versus Brock Lesnar

In one of the biggest story lines in recent months, the Triple H and Lesnar match, should be a memorable one. Two former WWE Heavyweight Championship title holders could mean wrestling fans are in for a match full of action. Although Lesnar seems like a stronger selection, it will be Triple H with the final straw to win.

Your winner: Triple H.
