Most Annoying Transfer Rumours Still Persisting as Window Approaches Its Close
The summer transfer window only has another 11 days before the rumor mill madness shifts to the potential deals of January's short window.
Many massive deals have taken place this summer, and without a doubt most all teams have done their best to get stronger heading into another grueling fall through spring campaign.
With the closing days sure to bring the rumors hot and heavy for the next near fortnight, we take a look at seven of the most persistent rumors of the summer that just do not seem to be willing to die.
Michael Owen
1 of 7Since being released by Manchester United, there have been rumors surrounding the future of Michael Owen. The man was a legend at Liverpool, but he has failed to regain the form he had on Marseyside and also at Real Madrid, despite their lack of faith in him.
When on the pitch he still could be a great asset to a team, but honestly I am tired of hearing about it. The latest rumor continues to link him with a move to Everton according to TalkSport. What more can he do to alienate the Liverpool faithful that once revered him after playing for United?
Fernando Llorente
2 of 7Since early this summer, Spanish striker Fernando Llorente of Athletic Bilbao has been rumored to be moving all around Europe. However, it now once again appears he is happy to stay in Spain for the coming season, according to ESPN.
With his price tag anticipated to be in the upper 30 million pound mark, there is doubt he will have a club spend so much on him when they could sign him as a free transfer next summer.
Wesley Sneijder
3 of 7Face it folks, Wesley Sneijder is going nowhere. He is key to the future of Inter Milan and a major part of any chance the Nerazzuri have of regaining a place in the top four of the Serie A this season.
According to the ESPN Star, Sneijder has once again been removed from another transfer rumor, this time in regards to him moving to Fenerbahce.
Lucas Biglia
4 of 7RSC Anderlecht defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia has been a rumored transfer target of Arsenal since January of this year. With the recent departure of Alex Song, once again the rumors are abounding even more than before about the Argentine moving to the Emirates.
According to TalkSport, the London English Premier League club are thought to be the first in line to secure the want-away midfielder.
Danielle De Rossi
5 of 7AS Roma defensive midfielder and club favorite Danielle De Rossi continues to be linked with a move away from the Giallorossi. Most recently ESPN has him linked with a press conference where he will decide his footballing future.
If he leaves Roma it would be a sad thing as he is one of the few players of his generation that have shown true loyalty to a club through thick and thin.
Andy Carroll
6 of 7Either sell him or let it be. Andy Carroll is likely to never escape the hex of his massive price tag, but the young English forward still has time and the ability to turn the heads of those around him.
Despite having worked hard to have a strong second half during the 2011-12 campaign, Carroll this summer has been thought ready to be sold to Newcastle of West Ham United.
However, at this point he looks almost as if he is going to get to fight for his place as he had wanted to begin with under Brendan Rodgers. According to The Sun, it is truly now or never for the player as we head into the last full week of the transfer market.
Clint Dempsey
7 of 7Another summer-long transfer rumor has been Clint Dempsey out of Fulham. The American was top class last season, but it appears that the 29-year-old may be a little less desired than many may have expected this summer.
According to TalkSport , he is hoping to force a move, but there is no evidence of any Premier League club that is set to purchase the winger.
