Hernandez, better known as Chicharito, is a Mexican national that has 55 caps for the Red Devils since being signed in the summer of 2010.
He’s scored 23 goals for the club and is still widely regarded as one of the most talented young forwards in the world, despite a poor 2011-12 season after he recovered from a severe concussion.
However, Man U has just acquired Robin van Persie—the top goal scorer in the English Premier League—from Arsenal, and already has Wayne Rooney (the No. 2-leading scorer in the EPL) under contract.
Since Chicharito was a third striker for much of last season—falling behind Danny Welbeck on the depth chart—it seemed that he would be expendable.
With that sort of scoring talent up top in Old Trafford, it would be crazy for another side not to take a stab at acquiring one of the top-flight backups.
Chelsea—with owner Roman Abramovich always willing to spend money to put a solid product on the pitch—decided to contact Sir Alex Ferguson in an attempt to lure the Guadalajara native to Stamford Bridge.
For reasons unknown, as of Friday afternoon, the Red Devils simply have no interest in moving Javier Hernandez on the transfer market.
Keep it tuned to Bleacher Report to find out what will happen next for Chicharito, his future with Manchester United and Chelsea’s interest in pursuing the Mexican international.
