FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will face each other at Camp Nou for the Spanish Super Cup or Super Copa. The first leg of the event will be held at Camp Nou in Barcelona on August 23, 2012.

The event will be the first one for La Blaugrana under their new coach Tito Villanova with recent signings such as Jordi Alba. A decision was made to write about six bold predictions for the first leg.

It is not an easy task and the predictions are not necessarily written in stone. The reason is that football like all sports tend to be unpredictable.

6. Jordi Alba Will Repeat His Euro 2012 Success

Jordi Alba is expected to play a big role in the Spanish Super Cup. He may assist David Villa within the second half. 

He will repeat his Euro 2012 feat by scoring two goals and giving Barca the victory. How will this be accomplished?

He will place Real Madrid on the defensive by gradually weakening the defenses of their goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The results will then lead to the two goals for Barca.

This will be one of the contributions to a Barca victory at Camp Nou during the Spanish Super Cup.

5. Tito Villanova Will Find His Own Voice as FC Barcelona Manager

Tito Villanova is expected to continue in the same path as Pep Guardiola in his first season as FC Barcelona coach. He will begin to find his own voice in the Spanish Super Cup with emphasis on 4-3-3, Victor Valdes as goalkeeper, with Messi and Alba on the field surprising Real Madrid.

While supporting FC Barcelona, I have to predict that maybe Jose Mourinho learned his lesson from the previous season and will be on his good behavior. My prediction is based on the interview of Mourinho by fellow B/R writer Michael Cummings when Real Madrid faced AC Milan in New York.

I saw the interview in order to get the feeling of what Mourinho was attempting to convey to the public. My impression was that he appeared genuine and sincere during the interview.

It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will be able to control his emotions during the Spanish Super Cup. At least it helps that Mourinho regrets poking Villanova's eye in an interview with FOX Sports in a h/t to Business Day.

I still think that there is a 50 percent chance in this prediction.

2. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Will Deny Rivalry

According to ESPNStars, Cristiano Ronaldo said that he is not bothered by fans chanting Messi´s name. Lionel Messi said that there was no personal rivalry with Ronaldo as reported in the Associated Press with a h/t to ESPN Soccernet.

Ronaldo and Messi will take advantage of the latter's declaration by saying that there is no rivalry except for football. The declarations and press conference would be in response to an attempt by the two clubs to reduce the tension level in the competitive relationship.

1. Messi Will Score Two Goals

Lionel Messi will score at least two goals in the Spanish Super Cup. Messi will be assisted by Jordi Alba when he scores.

It will be a repeat performance of the UEFA Champions League between FC Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen on March 7, 2012.

Conclusion

The First Leg of the Spanish Super Cup is expected to be heavily fought between the traditional rivals of La Liga. The final prediction for the match will be FC Barcelona 4-2 Real Madrid taking into account the strength of both clubs.
